Test day: remote testing, rules and a checklist
4 min read · updated October 2026
EPSO's computer-based tests are taken remotely: every candidate sits the test online on the date and time stated in the invitation, under proctoring rules. EPSO publishes technical requirements for the device, connection and room; failing them can prevent you from completing the test, so run the system check as soon as you are invited.
Before the day
- Run EPSO's system check on the computer you will use; close the test on a laptop you cannot test beforehand.
- Prepare a quiet room, a clear desk and, where the rules allow, blank scrap paper and a pen.
- Rehearse the exact timings. The reasoning simulation uses them.
During the test
- No calculator. Numerical items are designed to be solved with estimation and simple arithmetic.
- Flag and move on. A blank answer and a wrong answer score the same, so answer everything before time runs out.
- Keep an eye on the clock at fixed checkpoints (for example after items 5 and 10 of a 20-item test).
Always follow the invitation and the notice of competition for your own competition; rules differ between procedures.
